Cupping is an ancient traditional therapy used for thousands of years It has a strong presence in Prophetic medicine and folk medicine and in recent years it has garnered medical and research interest as a complementary treatment.

What is cupping?


It is a therapeutic technique that relies on drawing out stagnant blood or fluids from specific areas of the body using special (glass) cups through suction.

Types of Cupping?

1️⃣ Wet Cupping

Suction is applied first, followed by a light, superficial incision in the skin, then the accumulated blood is drawn out.
This is the most common and effective method.

2️⃣ Dry Cupping

Suction only, without incisions.
Beneficial for muscle pain and spasms.
3️⃣ Sliding Cupping

The skin is coated with oil, and the cup is moved along the muscle axes.
Excellent for muscle tension and blood circulation.

🕋 Sunnah (Prophetic tradition):

17th - 19th - 21st of the lunar month
🩺 Medically:

Can be done at any time when needed
Preferred:
A light stomach
Avoid strenuous activity afterward
After cupping therapy:

✔️ Rest for 24 hours
✔️ Drink fluids
✔️ Eat lightly
❌ Avoid:

Taking a cold shower directly
Strenuous activity
Smoking or excessive caffeine
Contraindications for cupping therapy:

❌ Severe anemia
❌ High blood clotting disorder
❌ Pregnancy (on the abdomen and lower back)
❌ Wounds or skin infections
❌ Hemophilia patients
